Community involvement

Our school values strong partnerships with our families and community. Parents and carers can get involved through our Parents and Citizens Association (P&C) or by volunteering at our school. Your time and support help make our school a better place for everyone.

Parents and Citizens Association (P&C)

The Gunning P&C is a vibrant group of parents, carers and community members working in partnership with the school. Together, we support school initiatives through events and fundraising to help ensure our children have a rich and rewarding school experience.

Our mission: “To work with the school and community to provide resources and opportunities that make a positive and lasting impact on current and future students through fundraising opportunities, grants and events."

Throughout the year, we’ve hosted a variety of fun and engaging activities for the students, including the Mother's and Father's Day stalls, Halloween Disco, Gunning Gold, and the Election Day BBQ. We’ve also helped subsidise school excursions and successfully secured grants for outdoor chess pieces and new shade tents.

P&C meetings are held on the second Thursday of each month during school terms, both in person at the school and online. Everyone is welcome to attend, membership is not required. Meeting details are shared via ClassDojo and the Gunning School Facebook page.

Volunteer at our school

Helping out at school is a great way to get involved in your school community.

Volunteer opportunities include:

• helping in the canteen
• getting involved in the P&C
• listening to children read in the classroom
• volunteering on sports days and other school events
• helping supervise excursions.
